We are more than just a survival school. We are an outdoor learning center.

We host regular workshops every month to include survival basics,  wilderness self-aid, plant walks, herbal apothecary (medicine),  bowyer (bow building), pottery, deer processing, hide tanning, camp cooking, navigation, escape and evasion, tracking, still-hunting, modern trapping, kayaking and canoeing, and numerous other workshops.  Check out our upcoming events or contact us to schedule a workshop.

Wilderness Survival Training can be the difference between life and death.

Our Survival Workshops are designed to give people who are unable to take a week off of work the opportunity to attend our Applied Wilderness Survival Course on Saturdays.  These workshops consist of Sheltercraft, Firecraft, Water Procurement, Foodcraft, and Tools Class.

bow and arrowBowyer Course “Bow Building” (Basic and Standard Course Options)

In our bow courses we cover a variety of different bows: a Primitive Survival Bow, Bundle Bow, Finish Bow, and Stave Long Bow.

We will cover everything from tree/wood selection, debarking, layout, shaping, tillering, finishing, coating, and stringing up.  You will leave with fully functional bows.

What is a bow without some arrows?  We will also teach you how to make quickie arrows, and primitive arrows.   3-5 Day Course

Processing your own kill is very rewarding, and is crucial to avoiding unsavory tasting meat and deer processing fees. By learning to process your own deer you will enhance your natural awareness, gain a valuable life saving skill, and put the best tasting meat you have ever had on the table.

Learn the ways of our ancestors, by tanning your own deer hides.  Thousands of deer hides go to waste every year, because hunter just don’t know how to tan them.

In this course you will learn every step of the tanning process, and in the end you will have a finished buckskin.  With this beautiful piece of skin you can make all kinds of clothes, bags, accessories, tools, and much more.  This requires hard work, but it is fun and rewarding.

A good buckskin can cost hundreds of dollars. Stop throwing out your deer skins, and learn to tan your own hides. –  3 Day Course


plant walkWild Edible and Medicinal Plant Walk

Take a walk on the wild side!  This fun course will get you out discovering the amazing world of plants.  You will be blown away at how important plants are, and you will realize that all those weeds you have been trying to kill are actually yummy treats and herbal medicines.

We will discuss plant identification, plant families, poisonous plants, trees, nature awareness, and much more.   This workshop is broken up into four seasons, and with each walk will be new discoveries.

Time to get up off the recliner, and build a skill set that could save your life.   This course will provide you with the skills needed to survive that SHTF emergency scenario. Learn basic methods of handling and using a knife. This workshop will help you develop skills to properly maintain a knife, fashion bushcraft tools, and make cuts for creating traps.

Learn to correctly read a map and compass, and terrain associate.

Learn modern and primitive trapping along with various other food procurement methods.

This course teaches you dozens of different primitive traps and trigger mechanisms. Students will learn how to use and build multiple hunting implements.  We will also cover how to cook wild game, and identify wild edibles.

Learn to identify animal tracks and determine size, weight, and gate of an animal.

This course teaches you the principles of tracking to include, print identification, substrate analysis, animal habits and habitats, nature awareness, how to use a tracking stick, types of animal sign and how to distinguish them.

Learn the fundamentals of safe knife handling, and some of the most used knots in the wilderness.

In this class we will help you choose the right knife that fits your needs and your budget.  Choosing the right knife is crucial.  We will also cover the fundamentals of safe knife handling, knife maintenance, notches, wood processing, and other knife handling techniques.

We will wrap up the class with some vital knots that we use in our training on a regular basis.
